I'm constantly torn when it comes to the more risqué biochemical, genetic, biotechnological and psychological testing, because even though I am a person of dubious morals anyway, everyone else frowns upon even the discussion of it. But we have to be realistic here. Detached.
We have to be scientists.
We're fine to become subhuman if we do the same to our subjects. That is #12G7. I am #4K89.
The only difference between us is I have the needle and the fucking white coat.
I mean, okay, I'm not talking small stuff like stem cells, adult or juvenile, as I have always been pro-progression and pro-choice and I deplore ignorance as such, BUT OH WELLS. I guess what I'm talking about is... think Nazi scientists, and the period of psychological "treatment" and testing that took place at the turn of the century. Yes, a lot of it was completely unfounded it but we discovered new things about ourselves as a species in extremity. Yes, you can go "oh my god but it was so fucked up and this is why we have ethical guidelines, exacerbated by the Hippocratic oath, we don't test upon unwilling subjects or those who do not know the full extent of what the test entails or without guaranteed confidentiality. That is not how we roll, yo"
But man, what if it was?
Okay, we have to be realistic. We have an excess of humans, yes. We are lacking resources to adequately maintain a rapidly exploding population, yes.
We have tests to run and there's science to be done...
Okay, maybe I am a monster for dreaming of a scientific utopia of endless funding and subjects and variables and tests to be conducted?
It's not like I have wet dreams about Aperture Science.
Actually, even saying that, all I can see is white-wash and chrome for miles, an ideal I detest, and I'm actually surprised by how truly ambivalent I am when it comes to my feelings and hopes for humanity. There is no middle ground. We are weak, human flesh puppets controlled by our appointed governments, packed like sardines, at the whim of media, stocks and a single contagion. Or we are animals, living as we should be, a simple dog-eat-dog existence and an example of Darwinism in action. Or, we are a scientific super state that seeks to divulge and in turn destroy all mystique in the world.
oh no bro.
this post kinda kaputt before it got anywhere
